Looking for Love in all the Wrong Places? Work with the Energy of Osun to Explore Better Options.

This month we’ll continue our exploration of the Orisa with Osun the Orisa of Love, Curiosity, and sensuality. Even if many of the qualities of the Osun energy resonate with you the only certain way to know who your guardian is, would be to have your Life Path read. Each of us has a connection to every Orisa, your Guardian Orisa isn’t necessarily the one you feel most akin to. If you’re interested in taking a big step forward towards living a Purpose Driven Life then click here to sign up for your Life Path Discovery Session.

Osun is associated with the water element. She occurs in nature as fresh water including lakes, rivers, streams, and even rain. She can appear like a placid lake early in the morning a babbling brook, a turbulent river or a powerful waterfall. Osun is the power fo love and sensuality among the Orisa. She also teaches us to keep moving and exploring. Never stopping, never held back, like water always finding its way. Osun can also be warrior like. All the fresh water predators are her children so while she can be gentle a sweet, there is also a crocodile in her makeup.

Osun is at home in any fresh water environment but she is also present anywhere where sensuality and pleasure are the focus. I can feel her presence whenever I’m in a spa, particularly if there are wonderful water elements. She would be equally at home in a club joining in the dancing and flirting or eating a sumptuous meal at a great restaurant. With so many possibilities it is important to understand the aspect of the Osun energy we are trying to connect with so that we can focus the connection on the qualities that we are trying to bring out in ourselves.

Osun is the source of our sexual drive, and our need to experience pleasure. She is responsible for conception and for romantic love. She also helps us to be more curious. To look at life from different perspectives and to get out and explore the world, and the people around us.

Osun helps us to appreciate beauty in all its forms. Whether it be art, music, dance, or a person the Osun energy can help us to appreciate the beauty that’s inherent in something even if it is hidden. She also helps us to flirt with other people and with life. Flitting like a butterfly and tasting many things before deciding to explore further.

Osun’s power places are bodies of fresh water, rivers, streams and even waterfalls. We can sense her presence in any of these environments and it can be very valuable to notice the different aspects of Osun. Think abut how different it feels to be near a large still lake versus a raging river. Both of those experiences bring us to Osun, but to very different aspects of her nature.

Osun can help us to be more beautiful and to attract people and situations to our lives. She can also help us to get out into the world to explore possibilities that are out there. She can get us moving when we’re stuck and hep us get back into the flow of things when we’re feeling out of sorts. Osun can bring more sweetness, and love into our life. When we’re looking for a partner she helps us attract them and engage in the early stages of love.

There are a great many things that can be offered to Osun. The most classic offering is honey. It is sweet and sensual, it’s stickiness can help goodness stick to us. Anything sweet can make a great offering to Osun. You can also offer spicy things to bring out the movement aspect of her energy. For sensuality anything with a creamy or silky texture will help to engage the energy in that way. Again, perhaps more than with any other Orisa, it is important o understand why we are approaching Osun before we make an offering. We just sing the offering to the aspect we’re looking to bring out or understand. Even peaceful offerings like Shea Butter or incense have their place in accentuating that deep still joy represented by a lake at dawn.

People who have chosen a specific Orisa as their guardian are referred to as children of that Orisa. While they may reflect many of the Orisa’s qualities, they don’t do it perfectly. Human beings are connected to all of the Orisa energies. Each of us has a unique balance based on those connections. That’s why you’ll find that children of any given Orisa are so different.

These are some of the qualities you may express if you are a child of Osun :

  • You are acutely aware of how you look.
  • You spend more time than most people deciding what to wear.

If you’re looking to be more joyful, to bring more flow into your life, or to find the love you’ve been longing for, then connecting regularly with the Osun energy is the way to go.
